  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk until just blended.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples and pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and oats. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
