Crockpot Indian Butter Chicken

A deliciously creamy and flavorful Indian dish made easily in a crockpot.

  • 2 pounds chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. In your crockpot, combine the chicken thighs, butter, onion, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Sprinkle the garam masala, turmeric, and chili powder over the mixture and stir.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes and mix well.
  4. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and sugar during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  6. Serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add more chili powder.
  • Use chicken breast for a leaner option.
