Croque Madame

A delicious take on the classic Croque Madame, featuring turkey bacon and chicken ham for a delightful breakfast or brunch option.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 2 slices turkey bacon
  • 2 slices chicken ham
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and whisk in the flour.
  3. Slowly add the milk, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  4. Season the sauce with salt and pepper, then remove from heat.
  5. Layer two slices of bread on a baking sheet.
  6. Add turkey bacon and chicken ham on each slice.
  7. Pour some sauce over the meat, then sprinkle with cheese.
  8. Add another slice of bread on top, then pour the remaining sauce and cheese over.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Fry the eggs in a separate pan to serve on top of the sandwiches.

Notes

  • Add herbs for extra flavor.
  • Use whole grain bread for a healthier option.
